In September 2025 section 9 has been updated to reflect Granting Leaves of Absence in Working Together to Improve School Attendance statutory guidance, which states that generally, the Department for Education does not consider a need or desire for a holiday or other absence for the purpose of leisure and recreation to be an exceptional circumstance for leave of absence.

In September 2025 a new section has been added on child financial exploitation which is where a child is groomed into helping criminals launder money or commit fraud. Most children are financially exploited without understanding what is going on or realising they are committing an offence. The sections on Risks and Signs and Indicators have already been rewritten and should be reread.
